Dutch man arrested in Frankfurt for alleged rape of 13-year-old stepsister
A 26-year-old Dutch man was arrested at Frankfurt Airport in Germany on Wednesday for the alleged rape of his 13-year-old stepsister. The suspect had been wanted under a European and Interpol alert issued by British authorities in December 2023.
German police apprehended him after he arrived on a flight from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Reports indicate that he was born in Somalia but holds Dutch nationality. He is accused of committing the rapes in 2020 while living in the United Kingdom, where the alleged offenses took place.
Following his arrest, he was transferred to an investigating judge in Frankfurt am Main to continue the legal process. Because he has the right to contest extradition, the transfer to the United Kingdom authorities could take between 10 and 60 days, depending on whether he agrees to a simplified procedure. Authorities emphasized that these timelines are standard in extradition cases, especially when the suspect has the option to challenge the process.
Separately, earlier this week, another suspect wanted for rape was apprehended in Germany. A 21-year-old Belgian man was extradited from Germany to the Netherlands on Monday, January 12, 2026. He is accused of attempting to rape a woman on an Amsterdam night bus in June 2025. German authorities tracked him down after seven months on the run, and he was formally handed over to Dutch authorities to face prosecution.
These cases highlight ongoing international cooperation between Germany, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, and Interpol in locating fugitives and executing cross-border arrest warrants, particularly in serious cases such as sexual offenses.
