55-year-old volunteer at Rotterdam scout group arrested in child sexual abuse case
A 55-year-old man was arrested Monday in Rotterdam in connection with a child sexual abuse investigation at a local scouting organization, police reported.
Police said the probe began earlier this month after reports suggested a volunteer at the scout group may have victimized several minors. Authorities urged anyone with information to come forward.
Officers searched the suspect’s home and seized multiple data carriers. The man remains in custody and is being questioned, as investigators continue to study the full scope of the alleged abuse.
The officers reported that support services were immediately provided to the children and their families. Police are withholding victims' details due to their ages and privacy concerns.
“This investigation must proceed calmly and thoroughly,” police said. “Our detectives have specialized training to interview victims and suspects in these types of crimes. We understand the concern and impact this case has on the community.”
