Children found stabbed in Moergestel in stable condition; Mother was abroad
The two young children found seriously injured in a home in Moergestel on Saturday evening are in a stable condition, the police reported on X. Officers found the children with stab wounds after their father had crashed into oncoming traffic on the A58 near Tilburg earlier in the evening.
The police tracked down the children’s mother abroad on Sunday, and she immediately started heading back to the Netherlands, a police spokesperson told NU.nl. The spokesperson expected her to arrive by Sunday evening.
On Saturday evening, the children’s father caused a serious accident on the A58 near Tilburg by driving into oncoming traffic. At least four vehicles were involved in the accident, and several people sustained minor injuries. The father was taken to the hospital with severe injuries, a police spokesperson told Brabants Dagblad.
After the accident, the police went to the wrong-way driver’s home on Janus Roijakkerstraat in Moergestel. Officers broke down the front door and found the man’s two children seriously injured inside. The children are both under ten years old.
The police are investigating the man’s involvement in his children’s stabbing.
Locals told Brabants Dagblad that the family only recently moved to Moergestel. They lived in Woensel until last month.
