16-year-old arrested for using gun to rob 14-year-old girl of fatbike

A 14-year-old girl was threatened with a firearm during a robbery on Laan van Welhorst on Wednesday evening, authorities said. The assailants fled on the girl’s fatbike around 6:50 p.m.

According to the RTL, police quickly apprehended a 16-year-old boy from Ridderkerk in the vicinity with the stolen bike, but a second suspect remains at large. The firearm used in the robbery has not been recovered.

“The investigation is ongoing, and we are still looking for a second suspect,” police said. “If you saw anything unusual before, during, or after the incident near Laan van Welhorst, please contact us.”

The police confiscated the fatbike during the arrest, and no injuries were reported. Authorities have urged witnesses to come forward with any information that could help identify the remaining suspect.
