Intoxicated woman arrested after slamming into van in Oisterwijk

A drunk-driving crash in Oisterwijk on Friday evening left two heavily damaged vehicles and a driver under arrest after she hit a van at high speed and veered into a ditch, police said.

According to Omroep Brabant, the woman drove onto Gemullehoekenweg from Oirschotsebaan and struck the side of a van in a gentle bend.

Police said she hit the van with enough force to send her own car off the road and into a ditch. Police and paramedics responded, but neither driver was injured.

Witnesses told officers the woman was visibly intoxicated. A roadside test confirmed she had consumed more alcohol than legally allowed, leading to her immediate arrest. She was taken to a police station for a full alcohol test to determine her exact blood-alcohol level.

Both vehicles were severely damaged. Police said the bend where the collision happened has been the site of multiple crashes in recent years.
