Range Rover torched at Den Bosch supermarket two days after makeshift bomb discovery
A Range Rover parked outside supermarket Dunya on Churchilllaan in Den Bosch went up in flames around 11:15 p.m. Friday, just two days after a homemade explosive was discovered at the same location, police said.
The SUV was parked along the supermarket when it suddenly caught fire. When firefighters arrived, the front of the vehicle was already engulfed in flames. They quickly brought the blaze under control, but the Range Rover was completely destroyed, Omroep Brabant reported.
A towing company later removed the burned-out vehicle. The fire drew a large crowd of onlookers from the neighborhood. Several police units arrived to secure the area and launch an investigation.
Police are investigating whether the car fire is connected to the explosive found at the same supermarket on Wednesday. That device consisted of a plastic bottle filled with a flammable liquid and several “cobra” fireworks attached to it.
According to police, the same supermarket had been targeted by explosions in the past. A neighborhood investigation is planned for Saturday, and officers are reviewing nearby security camera footage.
