Major fire breaks out at Moerdijk composting facility, residents warned to stay indoors

A large fire broke out early Saturday at a composting company on the Moerdijk industrial estate in Noord-Brabant, authorities reported.

The blaze, concentrated in the company’s transport hall where a long conveyor belt is located, started while no employees were present. The fire was brought under control at around 16:00.

Firefighters deployed substantial resources, and the safety region advised nearby residents to keep windows and doors closed and to turn off ventilation systems.

Train traffic on the freight line running along the industrial estate was halted due to the fire.
