Michelin awards top three-key rating to Amsterdam hotel; 17 Dutch hotels honored

Michelin has unveiled its first-ever hotel awards, honoring seventeen hotels across the Netherlands for excellence in hospitality, design, and service. De L’Europe Amsterdam received the country’s highest distinction with three Michelin Keys, while five hotels earned two Keys and eleven received one.

The new Michelin Key system mirrors the brand’s famous restaurant stars, with three levels recognizing the best hotels worldwide. Michelin said its inspectors reviewed more than 7,000 hotels in 125 countries to find those that “embody excellence in architecture, interiors, service, and personality.”

De L’Europe Amsterdam was the only Dutch hotel to earn three Keys. The Michelin Guide called it “one of just a few hotels that uphold the tradition of the classic European grand hotel.” Open since 1896 and renovated in 2020, it combines “timeless luxury” with modern design.

Five hotels received two Keys: Rosewood, TwentySeven, Tivoli Doelen, and Pillows Grand Boutique Hotel Maurits at the Park in Amsterdam, and Château Neercanne in Maastricht. Michelin praised the Pillows hotel as “an exceptional stay” in a restored 1908 university building, and Château Neercanne as “a dramatic, historic terraced castle” with seven restored suites.

Eleven hotels earned one Key, including The Dylan, Pulitzer, Soho House, and The Craftsmen in Amsterdam, as well as hotels in Zwolle, Voorburg, Valkenburg, Dalfsen, Ermelo, Maastricht, and The Hague. The Craftsmen was described as “where Dutch artistry takes center stage” in a 17th-century canal house filled with upcycled antiques.
