Another KLM flight diverts amid third drone disruption in Danish airspace this week

A KLM flight from Amsterdam to Aalborg was forced to turn back Thursday night after reports of drones near Aalborg Airport in Nordjylland, Denmark, NU.nl reported. The disruption came amid the third drone-related incident at a Danish airport this week.

The airport, located approximately six kilometers southwest of Aalborg city center, was closed from 11:40 p.m. to 12:35 a.m., according to Danish police. Authorities reported that no drones were observed and have not revealed who initially reported the sightings.

In addition to the KLM flight, a domestic SAS flight from Copenhagen was canceled due to the temporary closure.

Aalborg Airport had also faced disruptions on Wednesday evening when drones were seen above the airfield. A KLM flight then diverted to Billund. Earlier in the week, Copenhagen Airport was closed Monday after similar drone sightings.

The Danish government called the incidents “hybrid attacks” aimed at spreading fear, and said the actions appear to be carried out by a “professional party,” though no suspects have been identified.
