Five parties barred from Dutch parliamentary elections, 28 candidates removed
The Dutch Electoral Council has barred five political parties from participating in the Tweede Kamer elections scheduled for October 29, leaving 27 parties on the ballot, though not all will appear in every municipality.
The rejected parties include LEF – Voor de Nieuwe Generatie, which failed to provide proof of the required 11,250 deposit euros. Mijn Stem Telt!, Het Burgerinitiatief, Partij van de Toekomst, and ORDA were also disqualified for failing to submit sufficient voter support statements.
The De Groenen party sought to participate only in Amsterdam and Utrecht but did not gather enough voter backing in either city, and will not appear on the ballot.
In total, 28 individual candidates were removed from the list, mainly for not providing a copy of a valid identification document.
