Video: House fire in Eindhoven halts train traffic
A large fire in a home on Hofstraat in Eindhoven halted train traffic in the Noord-Brabant city early on Tuesday morning. No trains ran from 3:30 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Train traffic is now back on schedule.
Flying sparks from the fire hindered trains along the tracks in the Tongelre district. So ProRail decided to temporarily halt train services until the fire was out.
The fire completely engulfed and destroyed the home on Hofstraat. The fire department responded with three fire engines, an aerial platform, and a water tanker, RTL Nieuws reported. Firefighters had trouble reaching the blaze because the street was broken open due to sewer work, but they still managed to prevent the fire from spreading to adjacent homes.
As far as is known, no one got hurt in the fire. According to the broadcaster, the family living there was temporarily staying in a garden shed behind the house.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
