29-year-old man dies in Gouda stabbing; Suspect arrested covered in blood
A 29-year-old man from Gouda died Tuesday evening following a stabbing at a residence on Rentmeesterslag in the Zuid-Holland city. The victim reportedly had a dispute with another man, 25, also from Gouda, who was injured and later arrested on the street as a suspect.
The police confirmed that the victim and the suspect knew each other, but a spokesperson would not provide details about their relationship or whether either of them lived at the Rentmeesterslag address, citing privacy concerns.
Authorities received a report of the incident around 7 p.m. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the stabbing.
It was reported that the suspect was covered in blood while he was walking through the street. An eyewitness told the AD that the suspect was walking calmly, although he appeared dazed. “He was wearing a T-shirt and shorts, which were completely covered in blood. But also his arms, his legs, and his head. There wasn’t a spot left; blood was everywhere.”
A trail of blood went on for hundreds of meters to the cycling path on the Burgemeester Lucasselaan. This is also where the suspect was found by the police.
Investigators were present at the residence and on the street until 6 a.m. The blood marks have now been removed.
