No trains on key Zuid-Holland routes Tuesday evening due to track damage

There will be no trains running on several routes in Zuid-Holland on Tuesday evening between 7:30 p.m. and 11:15 p.m. The cause is a track defect between Delft and Schiedam, which will be repaired after the evening rush hour, according to NS and ProRail.

Due to this issue, there will be no trains running between Leiden and Rotterdam and between The Hague and Rotterdam. Passengers having to travel between The Hague and Rotterdam are advised to travel via Gouda. “We will also be deploying buses during the disruption,” said an NS spokesperson.

Far fewer trains are running between Den Haag and Rotterdam up to and including the rush hour. Due to the track defect, fewer trains are also running between Rotterdam and Dordrecht, likely until 7:30 p.m. ProRail advises travelers to check the NS app before departure.

“The problem with the track involves a broken weld between two rails,” said a ProRail spokesperson. “We have not yet been able to determine how the defect occurred.”
