TK Maxx recalls children’s life jackets in Netherlands over drowning hazard
Retail chain TK Maxx has recalled multiple children’s life jackets sold in the Netherlands after warning that the products may not keep users afloat and pose a serious drowning hazard.
According to the company, the life jackets do not meet safety standards, carry an incorrect CE marking, and are “possibly not suitable for use as a flotation device.” TK Maxx urged customers to immediately stop using the products and return them to stores for a full refund.
The life jackets, priced at 12.99 euros, were sold between April and August 2025 in Dutch TK Maxx branches, including locations in Rotterdam, The Hague, and Utrecht.
The affected product codes, listed on the price sticker and receipts, include: 819858, 819860, 819862, 819872, 819873, 819874, 819875, 819876, 819877, 819878, 819879, 819880, 819881, 819882, 819883, 819890, 819891, 819892, 819893, 819894, 819895, 819896, 819897, 819898, 819899, 819900, 819901, 819902, 819903.
TK Maxx also appealed for the recall notice to be shared widely. “Especially if you know that the recalled product was offered, lent, or sold to someone else,” the retailer said.
Customers should immediately stop using the life jackets and return them to any TK Maxx store. The company offers a full refund upon return.
The recall follows another recent safety alert in the sector. Last month, outdoor gear brand Helly Hansen pulled several types of life jackets from shelves because of drowning risks for users.
