A16 in Rotterdam to close weekends from August 22 until end of September for repairs
The A16 highway on the Rotterdam Ring, between the Terbregseplein and Ridderkerk interchanges, will face partial or full closures during five weekends in August and September, Rijkswaterstaat announced Monday.
The closures will occur over the weekend periods from August 22 to 25 and during all weekends in September. All intermediate on-ramps along this section will also be closed during these times. Rijkswaterstaat has arranged detours via the A20, A4 (Beneluxtunnel), and A15, depending on traffic direction.
These closures are reportedly necessary to complete the replacement of a viaduct on the Hoofdweg in Rotterdam, which is part of the highway. At the same time, extensive maintenance work will be carried out on the same stretch. Drivers should expect delays ranging from 30 to 60 minutes.
Following these closures, additional work is planned on the A16 in October and November. This will include resurfacing with new asphalt, upgrading guardrails, and improving drainage by lowering the roadside verges.
