Odido outage hits Gouda, Zoetermeer; refunds under review

Customers of telecom provider Odido experienced renewed network disruptions in and around Gouda and Zoetermeer on Saturday, following major technical problems the day before. A company spokesperson confirmed the issues were a lingering effect of Friday’s disruptions, according to the BNR.

According to Odido, the problems originated from maintenance work at its data centers, during which certain software updates were incorrectly implemented. The outage impacted mobile calling, texting, and internet services. On Friday, the outages triggered thousands of reports on the Dutch platform Allestoringen.nl. Odido has approximately seven million mobile customers.

The provider stated on its official account on X (formerly Twitter) that it is considering compensation for affected users. Customers who were impacted for more than twelve hours may be eligible. “More information about this will be shared next week,” the company said.

Friday’s outage caused widespread frustration among users. One customer wrote on Odido’s online forum: “The fourth major outage in such a short time. Unfortunately, for me, this is a reason to switch providers.”
