Man, 25, dies in single-vehicle dirt bike crash in Putten
A 25-year-old man from Putten was killed late Friday night in a single-vehicle crash involving a dirt bike on the Groot Hellerweg, authorities said.
Emergency services were dispatched around 11:30 p.m. after the rider crashed in a gentle curve just before the Hellerweg, De Puttenaer reported. The man was found lying in the road, while the cross-style moped had landed behind a row of trees in a nearby pasture, according to police.
Multiple ambulances and a First Responder unit from the Voorthuizen fire brigade responded to the scene. A trauma helicopter was initially requested but later canceled. Despite the rapid deployment of emergency crews, the victim died at the scene from his injuries.
Firefighters erected visual screens around the victim and cleaned the road surface. The Groot Hellerweg was closed to traffic until 5 a.m. Saturday morning to allow for a detailed investigation by the traffic accident analysis team (FO Verkeer).
