Man suspected of killing woman in Gouda found dead in Scheveningen; Suicide suspected

The suspect in the fatal shooting of a 39-year-old woman in Gouda has died. The suspect was her ex-partner, a 53-year-old man from Eindhoven, police have reported. The woman was also from Eindhoven.
The shooting occurred at around 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday on the Bosweg in the Korte Akkeren district. The woman died instantly as a result of the shooting.
After hours of searching, police found the seriously injured suspect around 8:05 p.m. in the dunes near the Zwarte Pad in Scheveningen. Emergency services tried to save him, but he died on the spot.
“So far, the investigation has revealed no indications of a crime; the police are treating it as a suicide,” the police said. There will be no trial since the suspect has died. The police and the Public Prosecutor’s Office are also being cautious about making statements regarding the case.
According to AD, the murdered woman’s children may have been nearby when it happened.“I heard one of the children yelling, ‘My mother has been killed,’” said one eyewitness. A few other people also witnessed the violent incident in broad daylight. Victim support is available for them.
