Five men arrested for sexually exploiting women after getting them addicted to flakka
The police arrested five men in the west of Noord-Brabant for the long-term sexual exploitation of multiple women. The men got the women addicted to the designer drug flakka, also known as the zombie drug, and then forced them to commit sexual acts, the police said.
The suspects come from Roosendaal and Bergen op Zoom and are between the ages of 30 and 60 years old. When the police arrested them, they found several women who they believe are victims of human trafficking. “We found the women in appalling conditions,” the police said. “The women are being put in touch with aid agencies.”
“This form of crime is not only punishable, but also causes the victims to lose their self-esteem and end up in a completely dependent position. It is difficult to get out of this without help. We hope that this is possible through the right aid,” the police said.
The police also reported that flakka is an “increasing problem” in Roosendaal. “Vulnerable women are often made dependent on flakka, or are already dependent, and are then forced to perform sexual acts,” the police said. Flakka is often called the zombie drug because it can leave users aggressive, confused, and unpredictable.
The suspects are in custody for further investigation. They will be arraigned later this week.
