22-year-old injured in early morning shooting near Vlissingen harbor

A 22-year-old man was injured in a shooting near Bellamypark, a square close to the harbor area with several cafés, early Sunday morning. The victim was conscious when taken to the hospital for treatment, NOS reported.

Police received a report around 4 a.m. from the Bellamypark vicinity. According to authorities, a group of friends was walking when one of them was called over by an unknown man. Moments later, the man was shot.

The suspect fled the scene immediately after the shooting. The victim, a local from Vlissingen, was left injured at the site. Police continue to investigate and urge anyone with information to come forward.

This shooting near Bellamypark is a separate incident from another shooting in Vlissingen that resulted in a man’s death after being shot inside a supermarket on Papegaaienburg. In that case, police arrested one suspect, and the victim died despite resuscitation efforts.
