Prosecutors demand 10 years in prison for Amsterdam man accused of sexually abusing boys
A 43-year-old man from Amsterdam allegedly used multiple dating apps and online channels to approach boys aged 13 to 16, overwhelming them with gifts, attention, alcohol, and drugs before sexually assaulting them. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) has demanded a 10-year prison sentence and compulsory psychiatric treatment for the sexual abuse of minors, possession and distribution of child pornography, and multiple drug offenses.
Over a period of eight years, the suspect systematically sexually abused the boys while they would be under the influence of alcohol or drugs. The OM also said the suspect sought out "vulnerable boys who struggled with their homosexuality" via multiple dating apps and online channels.
The suspect reportedly kept large quantities of drugs and alcohol at his house. The public prosecutor told the Amsterdam court, "The suspect asked for nothing but subtly moved them towards sex."
The man allegedly took photos and videos of the abuses. Police found more than 4,500 files on his computer. 2,600 of the files depict boys who have already been identified. The suspect also downloaded and distributed more child pornography.
The prosecutor said, "What the suspect has done is infinitely cruel. It is difficult to do justice to all the devastation he caused, resulting in each of these boys and men experiencing terrible ordeals and carrying their own trauma. All because of the suspect's sexual needs."
