Eindhoven police catch driving instructor and four students using drugs during lesson
A police inspection of driving school cars in Eindhoven uncovered multiple cases of individuals driving under the influence of narcotics, including four student drivers and one driving instructor. Authorities also cited another instructor who could not prove he was authorized to give lessons, according to Omroep Brabant.
The coordinated traffic check took place Monday and involved 48 learner vehicles with both students and instructors present. Police did not disclose the specific location within Eindhoven where the operation occurred.
Tests revealed that four students and one instructor were under the influence of intoxicating substances while participating in driving lessons. Police did not specify which drugs were detected but confirmed that blood samples were collected from all five individuals for further toxicological analysis.
In a separate violation during the same inspection, an instructor failed to present proof of qualification to conduct driving lessons. Police issued an official report against him for lacking the legally required teaching credentials.
"One instructor had no valid permit on hand to prove he was authorized to give driving lessons," police said. A fine was issued on the spot.
The Eindhoven case mirrors a similar operation last month in Den Bosch, where police also caught student drivers using narcotics during lessons. Six learners tested positive for drugs during that inspection. Notably, in one instance, the instructor accompanying a student was under the influence of cocaine, according to Omroep Brabant.
The Eindhoven police have not released further information about the outcome of the current investigation or whether additional actions will be taken against the driving schools involved.
