Changes to driver’s license theory exam include using animations instead of photos
The Central Bureau of Driving Permits (CBR) will be altering the theory exam for a driving license from April 7. The section on hazard recognition using photos will no longer be included. In the new exam, candidates will see short animated videos that show traffic situations.
“These videos will test elements of hazard recognition, like perception and prediction, and the candidate will have to answer with what is going to happen and how to handle the situation,” the institution reported on Thursday.
The new theory exam also has fewer questions. It will have 50 questions instead of 65, which is what the former theory exam had. A candidate is successful if they have answered at least 44 questions correctly within half an hour.
In addition, the exam will no longer be split into three parts but will now be done in one whole category. “We throw it in the mix, and we can do this with fewer questions with the new setup,” said a spokesperson for the CBR.
The organization has stated that the difficulty level of the exam will remain at the same level as it was previously. "In this new setup, it is easier to test whether the candidate has the required knowledge and insight into the traffic rules and can apply this in different traffic situations."
