Restart for interior design retailer CASA looking unlikely; Currently no negotiations
It is looking unlikely that the bankrupt interior furniture retail chain CASA will reopen in the Netherlands. Bankruptcy administrator Bart Louwerier has said that no serious candidates have come forward to give the company a restart. The bankruptcy sales, which will continue for around four weeks, began in 18 CASA stores on Thursday.
No deadlines have been set for a potential restart, but Louwerier has said that there are currently no prospects for the continuation of the retail chain and that this will become increasingly difficult the longer it goes on.
One option to save the company would be if the Dutch stores are connected to a restart for the Belgian parent company, but there are also no current talks ongoing regarding this, according to the bankruptcy administrator.
The Dutch branch of CASA, which has over a hundred employees, was declared bankrupt in April. The Belgian retail chain had been declared bankrupt in the beginning of March when it became apparent that the company was unable to pay its debts.
CASA will use the bankruptcy sales to earn as much as possible to attempt to pay off some of the debts. There has been no reported information regarding how much money the sales could generate for the company.
