Limburg alderman causes accident after drinking too much at brewery
Levin de Koster (31), an alderman in Beekdaelen, caused an accident in the Limburg hamlet of Thull after drinking too much at a brewery on Sunday. The man himself told De Limburger that he stepped on the wrong pedal when pulling away, causing him to drive away very fast.
He lost control of the wheel on the narrow road and hit a garden wall. He tried to correct his car, but failed and crashed into a parked car. The parked car, an iron gate, and a fence were badly damaged. The passenger in the alderman’s car sustained minor injuries.
A speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour applies in Thull. It is unclear how fast the alderman was driving.
De Koster told De Limburger that this was “a big mistake.” He did not say how much alcohol he had consumed, only that it was “above the permitted limit.”
