Reward for information on cold case murder in The Hague doubled to €30,000
The reward for valuable information regarding a murder case in The Hague that took place 33 years ago has now been doubled to 30,000 euros, it was announced on Tuesday. The case concerns the death of Louis van Dam. “Loek,” as he was known, was found dead in a garage on the Kritzingerstraat in the Transvaalkartier in The Hague on January 28, 1992. The 64-year-old victim had been shot with six bullets.
Police said that it was noteworthy that nothing was taken from the office of the garage after the shooting. Three suspects were arrested shortly after the incident, but all three were released due to a lack of evidence.
Attention was brought back to the case via the Cold Case Kalender a few years. This led to police receiving new information regarding the case in 2022.
It was announced by police at the beginning of last month that a suspect was arrested in the case. The suspect is a 70-year-old man from The Hague. He became known to the police after the Cold Caseteam investigated the shooting again.
Police reported on Tuesday that the reward also applies for people who want to want to remain anonymous while reporting the info. This means that their name would be left out of the police file.
The true crime TV show Opsporing Verzocht discussed the case on Tuesday. They reported that “there are still questions in the investigation” despite the recent arrest.
