Court convicts suspect in Real Housewives of Amsterdam assault
The court in Amsterdam has sentenced Vuriano V. to 20 months in prison for severe assault on reality TV personality Tamara Elbaz, with five months of the sentence conditionally suspended. The Public Prosecution Service (OM) had recommended a two-and-a-half-year prison sentence, with six months conditionally suspended. V. also has to pay Elbaz damage compensation.
Elbaz was assaulted on September 2, 2024, in front of her four-year-old son. She was pulled to the ground in front of her home and hit and kicked several times.
V. is suspected of attempted manslaughter. He had been ordered to, in turn, order two other men to commit the assault.
Elbaz, who starred in the TV show Real Housewives of Amsterdam, asked the suspect to give up the name of the person who gave the assignment to commit the assault. V. refused to do so.
“I do not know that person very well,” V. said. He also stated that he had money-related issues, which led to him taking the assignment. The OM was not pleased with this reasoning. “I that the world that we live in? That you beat somebody up if you have money issues?” said the prosecutor.
Elbaz can accept the punishment that V. received for the severe assault of the reality TV personality. Her attorney, Sebas Diekstra, said to ANP. “For her, sadly, the most important question is still left unanswered: Who ordered the assault on her?” Diekstra said.
The four other suspects in the case are all underage men. Their case will be dealt with behind closed doors.
