Fire in Eindhoven casino warehouse forces evacuations, arson investigation underway
A fire broke out early Saturday morning in a warehouse behind a casino on Kruisstraat in Eindhoven, forcing evacuations of multiple apartments. Authorities are investigating possible arson after witnesses reported seeing a suspect flee the scene.
The fire started at 3:21 a.m. in a storage area behind the casino, producing heavy smoke and flames. Firefighters arrived quickly and managed to bring the fire under control before it could spread further. No injuries were reported.
As a precaution, police ordered residents of apartments above the casino and neighboring businesses to evacuate immediately. Officers secured the area while firefighters worked to contain the blaze.
Crime scene
Investigators are treating the location as a crime scene. The back door of the warehouse was partially open when firefighters arrived, and multiple witnesses reported seeing a person running away. Authorities have sealed off part of the casino and surrounding area with police tape, and officers are guarding the site until further forensic examination takes place later in the morning.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. Fire department officials have not ruled out the possibility of arson, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
Kruisstraat, which runs through the Hemelrijken neighborhood, remains partially closed as emergency crews assess the damage and investigators continue their work.
