Cold case team arrests suspect in 1992 Hague murder
The police arrested a 70-year-old man from The Hague in the cold case investigation into the murder of Louis “Loek” van Dam in 1992. The man is suspected of involvement in Van Dam’s murder.
The 64-year-old Louis van Dam’s body was found in a garage on Kritzingerstraat in The Hague on 28 January 1992. He had been shot six times. “It was remarkable that no goods or other personal belongings were taken from the office area,” the police said.
Three suspects were arrested after the murder but were later released due to a lack of evidence. The case went no further, despite the police’s cold case team picking it up again several times. In November last year, the cold case team again examined the case, giving it extensive attention on the investigative programs Opsporing Verzocht and Team Wes and placing signs in The Hague asking for information.
The 70-year-old man from The Hague came into the picture during that investigation. The police arrested him on Wednesday. He is in custody for questioning. The police also searched multiple homes and seized data carriers, among other things.
“Despite this arrest, the cold case team is still fully investigating the death of Louis ‘Loek’ van Dam,” the police said. Detectives are still looking for tips, witnesses, and other information that could help. A reward of 15,000 euros is attached to this case for information that leads to its being solved.
