Kidnapped man found safe in Breda, no arrests made
A 24-year-old man who was kidnapped late Friday night outside a sports complex in Breda has been found in good health, police confirmed early Sunday. Authorities have not disclosed where or how he was located. No arrests have been made, and the investigation is ongoing.
The man was taken by multiple armed suspects wearing black clothing and balaclavas near an athletics club on Dr. Schaepmanlaan. The motive for the kidnapping remains unclear, but police suspect it was a targeted attack. "The victim and the suspects likely knew each other," authorities said Saturday.
The victim’s family had been concerned for his well-being, as he relies on medication. Police have not provided details on whether he received medical treatment after being found.
The kidnapping took place in a parking lot shared by an athletics and hockey club, both of which have stated they had no involvement in the incident. The clubs were closed at the time of the abduction.
Authorities received a high volume of tips regarding the case, prompting police to urge the public to only report urgent matters through emergency lines. Investigators continue to search for the suspects and are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the kidnapping.
