Three football matches called off on Friday due to snowy weather
The Dutch football association, the KNVB, has called off three matches that were scheduled to be played in the second division, the Keuken Kampioen Divisie, on Friday evening due to adverse weather conditions.
De Graafschap against ADO Den Haag was set to be played at 8 p.m. on Friday. This decision came hours after the match between Roda JC and SC Cambuur was called off due to the amount of snow in Roda JC’s stadium, the Parkstad Limburg Stadion in Kerkrade. This match was also scheduled for 8 p.m. on Friday.
It was announced later in the evening that FC Den Bosch's match against Jong FC Utrecht at De Vliert stadium has also been cancelled due to the weather. There are three more matches scheduled to be played on Friday night in the Keuken Kampioen Divisie. The KNVB will announce the new date for these matches soon.
This will be the first weekend of professional football matches in the Netherlands since the winter break. FC Volendam tops the Keuken Kampioen Divisie table at the halfway stage. De Graafschap is in fifth position.
The KNVB also announced that the remaining 11 minutes in the Eredivisie match between Heracles Almelo and FC Groningen will be played on January 28. The match was abandoned during the match due to crowd trouble.
Heracles has stated that no new ticket sales will happen for the fixture and that only Heracles fans will be allowed into the stadium for the remaining minutes.
