Bodegraven man accused of sharing child pornography; sexual abuse under investigation
A 37-year-old man from Bodegraven appeared before court in The Hague on Tuesday. He was initially charged with spreading child pornography, but during the investigation, police have reportedly found evidence of the man’s sexual relations with underaged children.
The man was first discovered in the summer of 2024 by the Child Pornography and Child Sex Tourism (TBKK) Team of the National Investigation and Intervention Unit. Under the guidance of the Public Prosecution Service, the team was looking into cases of child pornography on encrypted chat apps.
The TBKK team then came across the man from Bodegraven, who shared pictures of “very young” children, the police report. Apart from pornographic materials, the suspect also talked to others on the chat apps about having sexual contact with underaged boys and girls.
The man was arrested on July 26, 2024. He has been held in pre-trial detention since. The investigation is still ongoing, with the next pre-trial hearing scheduled for April 3.
Police suspect that there are more victims, including those he could have met when working as a trainer at the Pentagon sports climbing club in Dordrecht from 2003-2019. Anyone with relevant information is urged to get in touch with the police investigator via email, [email protected].
