Four-year-old girl found dead in Rotterdam home, investigation underway
A four-year-old girl was found dead in a home on Blokfluit in the Prins Alexander district of Rotterdam on Saturday afternoon, Rotterdam police said on X. A person present in the home was arrested.
The arrested individual, described as someone from the "relational sphere," has been taken in for questioning. The exact relationship between the suspect and the victim has not yet been disclosed.
Forensic investigators have launched an inquiry into the circumstances of the child's death. "Due to a number of suspicious circumstances, the investigation remains ongoing, and several scenarios are being considered," said a Rotterdam police spokesperson.
On Saturday, emergency services, including a trauma helicopter, rushed to the scene around noon in an attempt to save the child. The child could not be revived, police confirmed Saturday evening.
