Snowfall expected throughout the Netherlands on Sunday morning

The whole of the Netherlands can expect snowfall during the overnight period leading into Sunday morning. A moderate south-easterly wind will bring cold air, causing the temperature to drop below freezing, according to WeerOnline.

In the northeast of the country, the snow will remain on the ground for the longest period of time Sunday morning. However, the temperature will rise considerably during the day.

Saturday will be mostly dry with temperatures between 2 and 4 degrees Celsius. A few showers will pass over the country with a chance of hail and wet snow. In the south, cloud cover will increase in the afternoon and evening. Then, temperatures will drop further to below the freezing point during the overnight hours.

The overnight snow showers will move in from the south over the Netherlands. In most places, the snow will change to rain during the morning hours. Drivers should take into account the likelihood of slippery conditions, with a chance of black ice as the snow turns to rain.

Early in the afternoon it will rain across the country. The temperature will rise considerably to 5 degrees in the north and 10 degrees in the south. In the evening it will warm up even further, possibly reaching 11 degrees. At sea, wind gusts will reach up to 60 kilometers per hour.

The temperature will remain mild into Monday morning, at 8 to 11 degrees. During the day it will warm up a bit to possibly hit 13 degrees in the southeast. Next week it will cool down again and there will again be a chance of wintry showers.
