Bodies of elderly couple found in two locations in Zwolle
The bodies of a 78-year-old man and woman, identified as a married couple, were discovered Sunday at two separate locations in Zwolle. Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding their deaths.
The first body was found Sunday morning at a residence in Wipstrikpark. Police immediately secured the area and launched a large-scale investigation, which included the use of a helicopter and search dogs.
During the search, a second body was discovered in the nearby Almelose Kanaal. Both bodies have been identified, but the causes of death remain unclear.
"We are fully investigating this matter, but it is already clear that the deceased were a married couple," police stated. Authorities have not provided details about the circumstances or potential connections between the two locations.
The investigation included extensive work in the surrounding area, with police cordoning off the residence and conducting a neighborhood inquiry. "We understand there are many questions," police said. "However, during an active investigation, we cannot share much information."
Police have emphasized the need for privacy in this case, citing ongoing investigative efforts. "We cannot disclose additional details at this time," authorities added.
