Max Verstappen youngest person on Quote 500; Richest Dutch still getting richer

The five richest Dutch became richer again, increasing their wealth by almost 5 percent to almost 253 billion euros, according to the Quote 500. The Royal Family also again increased their wealth. Last year, you needed at least 130 million euros to secure a spot on the list. Max Verstappen is the youngest person on the list at age 27. Bunq founder Ali Niknam is a notable climber

Heineken heiress Charlene de Carvalho-Heineken still tops the list of richest Dutch people with 12.1 billion euros, despite a 4 percent drop in assets. Luxaflex founder Ralph Sonnenberg (7 billion euros) and real estate entrepreneur Remon Vos (6 billion euros) are numbers 2 and 3. Last year, Randstad founder Frits Goldschmeding was still third, but after his death in July, his assets went to his foundation Goldschmeding Foundation.

Formula 1 driver Max Verstappen (27) is the youngest person on the list with a fortune of 210 million euros, an increase of 40 percent. He is in 322nd place.

King Willem-Alexander’s family is in eighth place on the list of richest families, climbing from last year’s 11th place. The Van Oaranje-Nassau family last year had an estimated fortune of 1.4 billion euros, 100 million euros more than a year earlier. Princess Mabel and Prince Bernhard also appear individually on the list of richest Dutch people.

Princess Mabel, the wife of the late Prince Friso, is in 121st place with her estimated fortune of 455 million euros. She owes that fortune to her share in the payment platform Adyen. Prince Bernhard is in 450th place on the list with an estimated fortune of 150 million euros. He earned that from real estate, as co-owner of the circuit in Zandvoort, and with his software company Levi9.

The CEO of the online bank Bunq climbed from 28th to 12th place with a fortune of 2.5 billion euros. Nikam’s wealth increased by 800 million euros, making it the second largest absolute increase in the list of the 500 richest Dutch people, after real estate entrepreneur Remon Vos (plus 1.5 billion euros).

According to Quote, Niknam (42) benefited from an increase in the value of the Belgian web services company Team.blue, of which he owns a fifth. Last year, Bunq also booked its first annual profit of 53 million euros, but in June it was forced to compensate customers who had fallen victim to phishing and helpdesk fraud after criticism of how inaccessible the bank’s customer service and security measures were. The amount in damages was never announced, but according to local media, 28 victims lost a total of at least 1.6 million euros.

The highest new entrant is Pim van Agtmael with 800 million euros in 63rd place. He amassed his wealth with the German department store Breuninger.

Peter Bijvelds, founder of the ailing bus manufacturer Ebusco, and founder Michiel Langezaal of charging station operator Fastned, among others, lost their places on the list. Adriaan Mol of payment company Mollie was the biggest loser, losing almost half of his assets. But he is still in 38th place with 1.5 billion euros in wealth.

Famous Dutch people on the list include Jon de Mol (21st with 2 billion euros) and Joop van den Ende (32ns with 1.6 billion euros).
