Martin Garrix announced as the world's No. 1 DJ for the fifth time
Martin Garrix has been crowned the most popular DJ in the world by the prestigious British magazine DJ Mag on Saturday in Amsterdam. The Dutchman takes the title for the fifth time and equals the record of colleague Armin van Buuren. The DJ also received the award from Van Buuren.
28-year-old Martin Garrix takes over the title this year from David Guetta, who was named the most popular DJ last year. Garrix was in third place then, after also taking the first place in 2022. In 2016, 2017 and 2018, Garrix was in first place in the Top 100 for three years in a row.
"I'm on the list with all my idols," Garrix said in a response. "I look up to Armin, I look up to Tiësto. To be among those guys feels very surreal. My biggest concern when I entered the list and ended up at the top was that it could only go downhill from there. So to be at the top again is very special.”
The announcement of the DJ Mag Top 100, the list of the most popular DJs in the world, took place during AMF at the Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE). The climax of the list returned after a two-year absence at the Amsterdam Music Festival in the Johan Cruijff ArenA. After his victory, Martin Garrix took to the stage for a performance to celebrate his victory.
