PSV youth players approached on social media for nude pics

An account called ‘voetballers.nl’ approached several children playing for PSV youth on Instagram and asked them to send nude photos, Omroep Brabant reports. The profile is now offline. The club filed a police report and notified parents, warning them to keep an eye on their kids’ social media.

The account initially positively approached players, promising to give them some publicity, a PSV spokesperson told the broadcaster. After a while, they asked the minors for nudes.

“It started innocently with approaching ambitious children. Some are looking for ways to get more into the spotlight and then the offer comes to help them with that. That this is then abused is a bad phenomenon,” the PSV spokesperson said.

He added that the profile also approached children playing for other clubs. He did not say whether any children responded to the request.

PSV informed the parents of its youth players about what happened and urged them to be alert. “It is also important to signal whether something is wrong because it is of course possible that children have not said anything about it,” the spokesperson said about speaking to the parents.

The club informed the police, the national football association KNVB, and the sports umbrella association NOC*NSF about what happened.
