Indeed: Increase in vacation jobs in the Netherlands

The number of vacation jobs in the Netherlands continues to rise. This is the result of Indeed, which claims to be the largest job exchange in the Netherlands. Hospitality workers, domestic helpers, cleaners, and sales staff are particularly in demand.

Indeed, it relies on the number of seasonal work vacancies on its platform. According to the website, this supply has increased by 12 percent compared to last year, although exact figures are not disclosed.

There was also growth last year, but then it increased 5 percent. Looking at the last three years, the supply of vacation jobs increased by 48 percent. In 2021, the supply increased by 26 percent, partly due to the lifting of the coronavirus restrictions.

According to Indeed, a quarter of the vacation vacancies are for catering workers. A fifth of the vacancies are for domestic workers.

"The demand for hospitality staff remains high during the period that this sector experiences peak moments," explains Indeed Benelux director Stan Snijders. "At the same time, we see a growing need for domestic help in nursing homes, for example, where extra hands are needed to maintain continuity during the holidays."

The site believes that demand for vacation jobs is likely to continue to rise in the near future. Indeed, it points to the current economic conditions and the continuing staff shortage in some sectors.
