Explosive found in confiscated scooter; Amsterda police station evacuated
The Meer en Vaart police station in Amsterdam’s Osdorp neighborhood was partially evacuated on Monday due to an explosive. The explosive was found in a scooter police officers seized during a check earlier in the day, AT5 reports.
Multiple emergency services responded to the police station at around 4:00 p.m., including the Ministry of Defense’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) service, the fire department’s Quick Response Team, and the ambulance service.
The police had to cordon off their own station and wait outside. The EOD eventually removed the explosive and detonated it elsewhere.
The police are investigating.
