Team TU Eindhoven wins robot football world championship

The TU Eindhoven team became world champions in robot soccer on Sunday, reports the university. Tech United won the final against BigHeroX from China 6:1.

The Eindhoven team won for the eighth time. The Chinese team had to compete with one robot less in the final due to a defective fuse.

During the five-day RoboCup 2024, the Japanese team Hibikini-Musashi@Home won the category for the best robot at household tasks such as filling the dishwasher and bringing coffee.

The competition also determined which robot could best be used to search for survivors under the rubble after a disaster, which Team Robotec won.

According to tournament director René van de Molengraft, the enthusiasm for the RoboCup was great despite the heat. He also said the participants showed how much the RoboCup “stimulates science and innovation in robotics.”

A total of 300 teams competed in five categories. The robotics tournament will take place in Brazil next year.
