North Sea Jazz Festival will remain in Rotterdam for the next seven years
The NN North Sea Jazz Festival (NSJ) will remain in Rotterdam for another seven years. All parties, such as the port authority, the festival itself, the municipality, and the home base Rotterdam Ahoy, signed an agreement on Friday, which means the festival will remain in Rotterdam until at least 2031, Rotterdam Festivals announced.
The first edition of NSJ was in 1976 in The Hague, with six halls, 300 musicians, and 9000 visitors. In 2006, the festival moved to Rotterdam, where it now attracts around 90,000 visitors annually.
All parties endorse the festival's importance for the port city. Alderman Said Kasmi (Education, Culture, and Events) says, "It puts Rotterdam on the map and provides the city with many economic benefits."
The NN North Sea Jazz Festival started this weekend, from Friday, 12 to Sunday, July 14.
