Four people arrested for alleged human trafficking at an employment agency in The Hague

Investigators of the Netherlands Labour Authority have arrested four people from an employment agency in The Hague on suspicion of human trafficking. They are also accused of putting illegal aliens to work. Two other people from the same employment agency were arrested on suspicion of money laundering, the Labour Authority reported on Thursday.

The employment agency had been on the Authority’s radar for a while because reports about the company came in in 2022. The Labor Authority also discovered personnel files with fake Greek identity cards during an inspection at the employment agency in 2021. It turned out that these workers actually had the Georgian nationality. In many cases, it is about illegal Georgian workers at the company.

Furthermore, in 2022, a woman from the employment agency was arrested by the police, who said she had to take women with fake IDs to hotels where they went to work.

The Labour Authority has now also reported that the owner of the employment agency has been arrested. Homes and offices were searched during the arrests in The Hague and Arnhem. Four cars, 34 company cars, a home, designer clothing and bags, gold jewelry, watches, glasses, and 25,000 euros in cash were seized.

Bank accounts, client claims, and loan repayments have also been seized.
