Emptier shelves again as Jumbo clashes with suppliers in price negotiations

Netherlands residents going shopping at Jumbo can expect emptier shelves and some products to be unavailable. The supermarket chain is negotiating prices with suppliers. Several A-brand products have already been unavailable or only available to a limited extent in recent weeks, NU.nl reports.

Kraft Heinz products like chocolate sprinkles and De Ruijter pink and white sprinkles are currently unavailable. Earlier this year, consumers sometimes couldn’t find Haribo sweets and bottles of Coca-Cola. Last year, Mars chocolate bars and Nestlé products like Whiskas cat food and Maggi stock cubes were difficult to find.

When price negotiations turn difficult, suppliers stop supplying products until an agreement is reached. “Sometimes negotiations are faster and easier than other times,” a Jumbo spokesperson told the newspaper without going into specifics. “Unfortunately, it sometimes happens that products are temporarily unavailable in stores or online.”
