Dutchman freed in rescue operation after being kidnapped in Spain

A Dutchman was freed by Spanish police on Friday from a vacation home in a suburb of Vigo, a city in the western Spanish region of Galicia. He was held there by three Turkish men but was able to contact the police in time.

According to Spanish media, the Turks demanded money from the Dutchman and threatened him with a firearm, which the police later confiscated. The three suspects, aged between 22 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of kidnapping.

The Dutchman was kidnapped by three Turkish men in the Teis district, near the Avenida de Galicia, on Friday. However, the victim managed to call the police shortly after the kidnapping. The Spanish police then launched a special rescue operation using special units experienced with abductions, the Telegraaf reported.

The Spanish special unit succeeded in freeing the Dutchman on Friday by raiding the apartment. They confiscated a firearm that presumably belonged to the kidnappers. According to local media reports, the kidnappers offered no resistance during the police operation.

It remains unclear why the Dutchman was held in the vacation home and the motive behind the kidnapping. The police investigation is ongoing.
