Wrong-way driver in loaner Volvo crashes into multiple cars, van in Veldhoven
A wrong-way driver in a loaner Volvo caused a great deal of damage on Kempenlaan in Veldhoven on Tuesday morning. He crashed into several cars and a van. As far as is known, the wrong-way driver was the only one hurt, Omroep Brabant reports.
The man came from the Volvo dealer on De Run. He left in a loan car because his own car was in for maintenance. A spokesperson for the dealership thinks the man had become unwell.
A mechanic at the dealership told the broadcaster that he heard a lot of revving and honking and saw the man driving onto the road at high speed. The man then sped into oncoming traffic on Kempenbaan, heading towards the Maxima Medical Center. He collided with multiple cars and a van, severely damaging all vehicles involved.
Firefighters had to cut the wrong-way driver from his loan car. An ambulance took the injured man to the hospital.
As far as is known, no one else got hurt.
