Noord-Holland cop arrested for selling police data to criminals

A police officer from Heemskerk was arrested on Monday on suspicion of selling police information to criminals, the Public Prosecution Service (OM) announced. The man is in custody for further investigation.

The suspected cop is 34 years old and works for the Noord-Holland police. The OM suspects him of violating his professional confidentiality, computer trespassing, and official corruption.

The police also arrested a 33-year-old man from Amstelveen, who is not a cop. According to the OM, he acted as an intermediary for the suspected police officers and the buyers of the police data.

Both suspects are in restricted custody. That means that they are only allowed to have contact with their lawyers and investigators.
