First event for Amsterdam’s 750th birthday to take place at Ziggo Dome in October
Amsterdam will kick off the celebrations for its 750th anniversary with a large concert in the Ziggo Dome on October 27th. Andre Hazes Jr., Rene Froger, S10, Sophie Straat, and Trijntje Oosterhuis are among the performers, the city announced.
The city plans to turn the Ziggo Dome into a “musical time machine” and tell Amsterdam’s story with music through the ages. “With golden oldies and current hits, from pop to house and from smart-lap to hip-hop,” the city said.
Ticket sales start on March 12. The concert will also be broadcast live.
The concert is the starting signal for Amsterdam’s year of celebrations. “With the concert, we really want to create something that the city and the Netherlands recognize themselves in and with which we invite the entire country to celebrate the anniversary,” program director Sietse Bakker said.
