More trains back up and running, but some problems remain

NS expects most trains to run according to timetables on Sunday, although some routes still might be disrupted due to repair work from Storm Eunice, an NS spokesperson said.

There are no trains yet between Amersfoort and Apeldoorn, Geldermalsen and Tiel and between Alkmaar and Hoorn. ProRail is currently cleaning and repairing the tracks on those routes. It is not yet known exactly when trains will run on those routes again. The NS advises travelers to check the journey planner before departure.

Arriva reported that there is no train traffic between Maastricht and Sittard due to storm damage. Due to repairs, there are also no trains between Tiel and Arnhem from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

"The start-up of train traffic went without any problems," said an NS spokesperson on Sunday morning. "The people from ProRail have worked very hard in recent days and nights to get that done."

Winds from Storm Eunice blew trees over tracks and damaged overhead lines and parts of stations, according to ProRail's live blog. By yesterday afternoon, ProRail had received more than 200 incident reports.
