At least two people were hurt after a car crashed into a group of people outside a bar in Rijsbergen, Noord-Brabant. The driver then fled the scene using the car involved in the early Sunday morning incident, according to Omroep Brabant.

It happened on Sint Bavostraat in the Noord-Brabant town, near the entrance to the Jolly Jester Pub which was still open at the time. Witnesses told the broadcaster that the exited the road onto the bicycle path, and then struck several customers.

There were as many as seventy people at the bar when the crash happened. “They were stunned,” one witness said. The two injured people were taken to an area hospital by paramedics. At least three ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

Photos from the scene showed several heavily damaged bicycles lying on the street where the crash took place, with many bicycles parked alongside the bar. Police were still investigating the incident at 9 a.m. on Sunday.

Rijsbergen is in the Midden- en West-Brabant Security Region. It is not in one of the 14 regions where the Dutch government recently ordered bars to be closed by 1 a.m. to decrease the spread of the SARS-CoV-2 novel coronavirus.
